Analysis from a Brazilian anarchist comrade on the recent elections in Brazil.

The current demonstrations against the results of the elections also serve as evidence that the fight against fascism does not take place at the polls. The urns express, if at all, the frame of a moment. They are the mathematical assessment of a battle fought in the media, with ample ballast in economic power.
Fascism was not defeated. He is very much alive and walks openly on the periphery without embarrassment or modesty. It is, in fact, a constitutive part of the institutions that are based on the discourse of bourgeois representative democracy.
The new phase of the social struggle cannot remain a prisoner of the institutional logic, the one that has held captive many of the energies of the revolutionary camp. The next period needs to reaffirm the popular and autonomous method. It needs to move towards the emancipation of everything that interferes with its full development. And for that, it will inevitably have to break with institutional tutelage.
If anyone still doubts the “nature” of institutions, it is enough to observe how they treat the more than hostile performances of fascism.
